The acclaimed photographs from Lembit Peegel’s exhibition “Peegel Pildis” (held at Fotografiska from January 24 to May 18, 2025) are now on display at Gallery Café.

LEMBIT PEEGEL (born 1936) is an Estonian sports photographer who has documented the story of Estonian sports for nearly six decades. His dedication and consistency have made him one of the most important figures in Estonian sports culture and established his name as one of the most well-known and respected sports photographers in the country. As a passionate sports enthusiast and practitioner, Peegel is especially valued for his work ethic, attention to detail, and exceptional visual language. His photos capture the full spectrum of sports emotions: beauty, pain, passion, disappointment, and hope. His extensive archive includes the most important and historically significant moments in Estonian sports and for Estonian athletes, as well as the broader history of the country’s sports culture.
Lembit Peegel’s first solo exhibition Peegel/Pildis was held at Fotografiska Tallinn from January 24 to May 18, 2025. The exhibition focused on a selection of his work from the 1970s to the 1990s.
